Film #111: REMEMBER ME (2010)

I strangely liked this film. It was cheesy but not predictable. And the performances from Robert Pattinson and Emilie De Ravin were beautiful.
The film is based around Pattinson's and De Ravin's characters Ally and Tyler trying to help each other set their lives straight. The further you get into the film the more you understand and learn about their lives and the obstacles they have faced. And the plot twist at the end of the film is heart breaking and so well filmed. It really was a wonderful film. But is definitely a strong romance so don't watch it if you're not into that kind of film.

Film #110: WEDDING CRASHERS (2005)

This film was alright. I mean it wasn't great but it wasn't bad. For me it was, again, the predictability of the film that I didn't like as well as the really not funny comedy based from dialogue and performance of actors. It was a straight forward predictable film and although it had its moments it still wasn't anything to rave about. But I think giving the circumstance of the film and the narrative the choice in actors was very well suited. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn were good in their roles but it still wasn't a brilliant film.

Film #109: HERCULES (2014)

So this was good but I have a few comments to make about how it was wrong to the myth. Like a geek I love Greek mythology and I hated to way that they firstly made The 12 Labors of Hercules out to be to prove he was strong and heroic, they weren't they were set out as punishment for him killing his wife and children. He did this because Hera didn't like him and cast a "spell" on him so he would see his wife and children as monsters so he would kill them and ruin his life. Which is another mistake in the movie as they said that he didn't kill his family and that someone else did it and framed him for the murder. It's all lies. And finally another mistake which I will tell you about is that they make the characters in the film and the audience question whether he really is a demi-God and the son of Zeus. That's the whole point of the Hercules tale! He is a demi-God and son of Zeus and therefore able to complete impossible and heroic deeds that humans cannot!
Rant over. I will say that I loved the battle and fight scenes they were very well constructed. As well I loved the costumes and make up, they weren't completely Hollywood that it looked bad, like with other films were the characters are wearing brightly coloured outfits that are dyed bright greens etc. The costumes were all believable to the times.

Film #108: THE DEAD POETS SOCIETY (1989)

I was completely struck to my core to find out that Robin Williams had died. He is one of the few people to walk to Earth and splash some colour into the dark world we live in. I cried when I found out but I hope that even after his death he will still be an inspiration.
So in tribute to him I decided to watch his films that I hadn't seen so I started with this beauty.
At first I thought this film was a bit strange but the further I got into it the more I loved it and was moved by the characters and their stories. I loved the scene in the courtyard where Robin Williams' character, John Keating, made the children walk around to make the point of not conforming to others.
This was a beautiful film and a truly inspirational performance from Robin Williams.
O' Captain. My Captain. We shall forever miss you.

Film #107: WHAT IF (2014)

So I went to the cinema, again. And saw this wonderful film. I think I'm a little bit biased as a fan of Daniel Radcliffe's but it still was a good film. The film was predictable, yes, but the film was also entertaining and very funny. It was an actual rom-com. I hate films that pretend to be in this genre but just focus on the romance side as oppose to getting the divide correct. They think that one joke is enough to place the film in the comedy genre also. But this film hit the nail on the head and had a wonderful adult humour that is present in great films like Bridesmaids but also a simple and timely humour in films like Love Actually. The performances were also brilliant by all actors, especially Daniel Radcliffe who has proven his brilliance in all genres. I did really enjoy this film and would be more than happy to watch it again at the cinema!

Film #106: THE WEDDING DATE (2005)

Well like every other American rom-com this was a complete waste of time and highly predictable. I hate with films like this the narrative gets so cheesy and patronizing. I didn't like this film but for all people reading this that want to know the plot of the film it goes as follows.
Kat (Debra Messing) goes to her younger half sisters wedding but as the best man is her ex-fiance she feels that she has to impress him so hires an escort to pretend to be her boyfriend (have you guessed the plot already?) But a secret is discovered meaning that Nick (the escort, Dermot Mulroney) returns to America leaving the money that Kat. On the day of the wedding everything is resolved and people confess their love and blah blah blah. It's so cheesy and annoying to watch.

Film #105: HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA (2012)

So as a child I kind of really liked it. It was a lovely concept of the hotel holding all of the monster and Halloween characters that we as the audience. Also I loved the friendship between Frankenstein ('s monster, I'm being correct here), the mummy, Dracula and the werewolf. It was beautiful, they were proper bromance but with multiple people, whatever that's called. I loved the message that children should know that it doesn't matter where someone comes from that love is the most important thing.

Film #104: THIS IS 40 (2012)

I kind of liked this film but it was still a disappointment, my argument on American and British comedy still stands. It was so dialogue driven and for the most of it it was unbelievable and unrealistic and basically not funny. I did love Paul Rudd's character and the appearance by Melissa McCarthy was beautiful but I hated hearing Leslie Mann's voice for the whole film and when she had to shout in the film she just went shrill and it hurt. So basically I'm being boring again and I hated it.

Film #103: PROMISED LAND (2012)

This was mediocre film there was no real reason to it. I know that could be said for a lot of films but for this it was just super pointless. The story is about a town trying to decide on if they want drilling rights in the town. It has Matt Damon and John Krasinski which is a bonus but it still isn't good. That's all I have to say on that.

Film #102: GUARDIANS OF GALAXY (2014)

I have loads of films to write about but I decided to do this one first as the film was awesome! So I actually saw this the day it came out and the cinema was packed, and rightly so. I loved it, the film was completely unlike the other superhero films that Marvel has given us over the years. This was one a lot more fun and entertaining compared to the series and sometimes pointless superhero films. I loved Chris Pratt in the film he played the cocky human character fantastically. And Zoe Saldana is just perfection personified! She is wicked and I loved her sassy and violent character.
I wasn't too keen on Karen Gillan but only as sometimes it was hard to know what accent she was actually trying to do. Was she English, Scottish, American or robot?! Seriously she needed to make up her mind.
Other than that it was pure genius and I can't wait for the sequel.
