Film #178: THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY (1903)

This is when film started to get interesting and exciting. This film, although it drags out and doesn't have much narrative, showed the possibilities of the camera. For example it showed how close ups can be used for affect and started to develop movement of the camera to show different locations. Also this film shows the control of the camera and how smooth pan shots can create affect. It was a bit old and boring but a true stepping stone for film history.
